Information for Administrative Positions

To be considered by the Brandon School Division for a position as a school administrator, an individual must possess a Manitoba Teaching Certificate and be certified to teach in the Province of Manitoba or must demonstrate that he/she is eligible to teach in the Province of Manitoba. For information on obtaining Manitoba Teacher's Certification please visit the Professional Certification Website.

Recruitment

Generally, the Brandon School Division advertises vacant school administrator positions on our website at Employment Opportunities, in the Brandon Sun and/or the Winnipeg Free Press newspapers. In some cases the positions will be advertised in a national newspaper. Advertised vacancies are also distributed through notices to schools.

Applications

Applications for administrative positions are received online, in direct response to open postings only. To apply, click the Apply link and follow the instructions provided under the Instructions tab. The online application process will require the attachment of a cover letter, a comprehensive curriculum vitae, Manitoba Teacher's Certificate, transcript(s), and most recent performance evaluation. It will also require the completion of information regarding education, experience, and contact information for three career-related references.

Selection

A Search Committee comprised of Trustees appointed by the Board of Trustees, members of Senior Administration and the Director of Human Resources is formed when vacancies occur. If the vacancy is for a Vice-Principal position, the supervising Principal is also designated as a member of the Search Committee.

Interviews are developed based on criteria that are considered by the Search Committee. The interview considers criteria that are based on an applicant's training, experience, knowledge and ability in a variety of critical areas.

The Search Committee makes its final selection by majority vote. This selection is presented to an official meeting of the Board of Trustees for final approval. When the Board passes a motion to approve a candidate for a position, an offer of employment is made to that candidate as soon as possible. Once an offer of employment is accepted, all other candidates are notified.
