Brandon Career Symposium
The Brandon Career Symposium is designed to be an opportunity for students and adults to hear from and talk with exhibitors about all the challenges and opportunities in making career choices. During this three day event, you can share your professional experiences of sustaining a career in your displayed profession.

Xello for Grades 6-12
Xello is our College and Career Readiness Software available for students Grade 6-12.  A sign in is available for every Grade 6-12 student in the Brandon School Division through your classroom teacher.

Career Development ACC BEST Seminar – TBA
Each year the Tri-High Grade 11 and 12 Career Development classes attend a networking seminar hosted by Assiniboine Community College.

Objectives:
•          Students will understand the importance of etiquette as it relates to networking.
•          Students will enhance communication skills with professional and personal contacts.
•          Students will model professional etiquette during a business or social gathering.

Grade 8 Trades Showcase – TBA
Skills Canada Manitoba will once again be offering its annual Skilled Trades and Technology Showcase. Sign your students up early for what promises to be an exciting time for direct hands-on learning, career exploration and tons of fun!

Indigenous Campus Life – TBA
An inaugural event (Indigenous Campus Life) hosted in conjunction with Assiniboine Community College and Brandon University that inspires Indigenous youth in the Brandon School Division to continue with their education in middle and high school, and be successful students who then become post-secondary students.

Manitoba Construction Career Expo - TBA
The Manitoba Construction Career Expo is an annual event held at Red River Exhibition Place, designed to encourage students in Grade 9 to 12 to explore their future in construction. The exciting and extremely popular Expo features an entirely interactive experience with hands-on demonstrations in over 30 skilled trades in construction, including masonry, carpentry, roofing, concrete finishing, electrical wiring and painting, among others.

Skills Manitoba – TBA
The highlight of Skills Canada Manitoba is our Skills Competition. Students participate in challenges designed to test skills required in trades and technology careers. The philosophy of the Skills Competition is to reward students for excellence, directly involve industry in evaluating student performance, and keep training programs relevant to employers' needs.

Winners of the provincial competition may form Team Manitoba and compete against their peers at the Skills Canada National Competition.

Over 475 high school, post secondary and apprentice students compete in 42 skilled trades and technology contests in six industry sectors.

Skills Manitoba Young Women's Conference - TBA
This is a one-day conference for young women to learn about trade and technology careers available in today's employment market.  Highlighting different vocations in trades and technology, young women will be introduced to women mentors currently working in the trades and technology field, and will be provided with employment and career planning information.

This program is geared for Grade 8 young women.  If you are interested in attending this great event, please contact your classroom teacher.

Take Our Kids to Work Day - November 3, 2021
