April 28th has been designated as “National Day of Mourning” to remember and honour those lives lost or injured due to a workplace tragedy.
It is the hope of Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) that the annual observance of this day will help strengthen the resolve to establish safe and healthy conditions in the workplace, and prevent further injuries, illnesses, and deaths. As much as this is a day to remember those who have lost their lives, it is also a call to protect the living and make work a place where people are safe and can thrive.
All BSD Facilities will lower their flags to half-mast from sunrise to sunset on Friday, April 26, 2024 to mark National Day of Mourning.
Brandon & District Labour Council Event: The National Day of Mourning Ceremony to recognize and remember workers who were injured or killed in the workplace in 2023 will be held in the Courtyard at Brandon City Hall 11:30 AM Sunday April 28th, 2024. Bring your family and friends. Following the ceremony we will meet back at the Brandon & District Labour Council Office for a light lunch and refreshments.
