Moose Hide Day is recognized on May 11th, as a day of ceremony for all Canadians to come together and take a stand against violence towards women and children, in our journey to reconciliation.
The Moose Hide Campaign began as a BC-born Indigenous-led grassroots movement to engage men and boys in ending violence towards women and children. It has since grown into a nationwide movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians from local communities, First Nations, governments, schools, colleges/universities, police forces and many other organizations – all committed to taking action to end this violence.
Brandon Urban Aboriginal Peoples’ Council and Assiniboine Community College will be hosting a Walk to End Violence at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 11th. The walk will begin at Princess Park, walking a loop to 18th Street, Victoria Avenue, 9th Street and then back to Princess Park.
