Teachers Institute on Canadian Parliamentary Democracy – Jessica Canning

Please join us as we congratulate Jessica Canning, Science and Geography Teacher and Student Council Advisor from Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School, as she has been selected to participate in the next Teachers Institute on Canadian Parliamentary Democracy (Teachers Institute), taking place in Ottawa, February 2023!
The Teachers Institute on Canadian Parliamentary Democracy is a week-long learning opportunity for educators focused on democracy, governance, and citizenship. Approximately 85 teachers from across Canada participate in this once-in-a-lifetime experience of in-depth learning, collaboration and inspiration, where they will:
“Experience first-hand the inner workings of Parliament, gain insight into the role of parliamentarians, exchange best practices with peers, and return to the classroom with renewed energy.”
Participants will have the opportunity to meet and interact with the Speakers of the Senate and the House of Commons, as well as other parliamentarians and government officials.
“I became a teacher because I have a passion for learning and sharing knowledge. One of the best parts of teaching for me, is the fact that I get to continue growing and learning.
I care about relationships with both staff and students. This rationale is what leads my philosophy as a teacher. Valuing relationships, exercising perspective, and leading with positivity allow me to collaborate well with others.”
