The Tears of Truth Bead Curtain is a project that invited Brandon area students and community members to build a curtain using beads as an intentional act of remembrance.
Some strands hold a symbolic number of beads: 2,800 that represent the children who did not return home from residential school and whose names are known; 1,400 children who did not return home from residential school whose names are not known; and a final bead, representing survivors.
This powerful event series explores themes of truth, history, and reconciliation through storytelling and the arts, creating space for reflection and learning.
Community members are encouraged to attend and take part in this important learning experience.
Visit Tears of Truth – Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba to learn more about the event.
