Irish Dancers perform at J.R. Reid!

We were pleased to have welcomed performers from McConnell Irish Dance to our school in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. As Manitoba’s longest-running Irish dance school, McConnell Irish Dance has been sharing its passion for dance for over 100 years, offering classes in both Winnipeg and Brandon for students ranging from preschool to adults. With a legacy spanning three generations, the school is known for its high-calibre, energetic performances and dancers who have competed at world-class levels across North America and Ireland.

The performance showcased a vibrant mix of traditional and contemporary Irish dance styles. Students not only enjoyed the performance but also had the opportunity to learn about the history and cultural significance of Irish dance. The interactive component allowed students to try some basic steps themselves, making for an engaging and memorable experience.

The 30-minute presentation was delivered by talented performers and instructors from McConnell’s Brandon division. The program was well-suited for students in Kindergarten through Grade 8, supporting connections to social studies curriculum in the early years while also promoting active, healthy lifestyles in alignment with Manitoba’s physical education goals.
