Brandon Urban Aboriginal Peoples’ Council (BUAPC) will lead a week of education, commemoration, and Indigenous celebration during Truth and Reconciliation Week 2025, running from Monday, September 29th to Saturday, October 4th at the Riverbank Discovery Centre.
The week features ceremonies, teachings, cultural demonstrations, music, film, and opportunities for community members to come together in the spirit of reconciliation. Highlights include the Proclamation and Survivors Flag Raising Ceremony on September 29, as well as Métis teachings, tipi raising, and Indigenous artists’ markets.
The Orange Shirt Day Walk will take place on Tuesday, September 30, marking the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Participants can take part in the 7 km walk or a 1 km mini walk, honouring Survivors, families, and all those impacted by residential schools. The day also includes traditional ceremonies, food, and cultural programming.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend all events throughout the week. Truth and Reconciliation Week is an opportunity to learn, reflect, and walk together on the journey of healing.
We Remember. We Honour. We Listen. We Learn.
