Traffic Redirection – Road Closure Notice (1st Street and Maryland Avenue)

The City of Brandon has recently provided notice that the intersection at 1^st Street and Maryland Avenue will be closed all of next week, May 5^th to May 9^th, in order to facilitate necessary watermain underground utility installations as part of the Roundabout project. The road closure also affects the multi-use pathway pedestrian crosswalk at Maryland Avenue and 1^st Street. 

This closure will affect many school bus and parent trips through the area who access either Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School or Maryland Park School, and may cause significant delays.  

At this time, we are requesting that all vehicle traffic to the schools follow the detours in place (please see the map above for reference): 

• Access to Crocus Plains East side visitor parking lot and bus loop will be detoured via Portola Drive or Patricia Avenue and up 1^st Street. 
• Access to Maryland Park School and Crocus Plains West parking lot will be via 9^th Street to Maryland Avenue. 
• Traffic will be congested during peak school hours, and roadway users are encouraged to plan ahead and have patience during peak times.
