National Day for Truth & Reconciliation (September 30, 2024)

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, observed annually on September 30th, is a significant day in Canada dedicated to honoring the survivors, families, and communities affected by the residential school system. This day, also known as Orange Shirt Day, serves as a national moment of reflection and education about the historical injustices faced by Indigenous peoples.

By wearing orange shirts and participating in various commemorative activities, Canadians are encouraged to acknowledge this dark chapter in history, promote healing, and commit to the ongoing process of reconciliation.

Brandon Urban Aboriginal Peoples’ Council (BUAPC) along with several other community partners, have planned numerous public events and activities at the Riverbank Discovery Centre.  For more information about these events, please see the program below or visit: Brandon Urban Aboriginal Peoples' Council (buapc.ca).
