Traffic Redirection – Road Closure Notice (1st Street & Maryland Avenue)

The City of Brandon has recently provided notice that the intersection at 1^st Street and Maryland Avenue will be closed, from 8:00 am on Monday, May 6, 2024, to 8:00 am on Monday May 13, 2024.  This closure is in relation to the installation of new sewer and water connections for a development east of 1^st Street, and we anticipate further closures in the foreseeable future.  

This closure will affect many school bus and parent trips through the area who access either Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School or Maryland Park School and may cause significant delays.  

At this time, we are requesting that all vehicle traffic to the schools follow the detours in place (please see the map above for reference):

• For parents and staff wishing to access Crocus Plains from 1^st Street, you must approach and exit from 1^St Street and Patricia Avenue.
• For Parents and staff wishing to access Crocus Plains from the West side of the school, you must approach and exit from 9^th Street and Maryland Avenue.
• For Parents and staff wishing to access Maryland Park School, you must approach from 9^th Street and Maryland Avenue and exit via McLeod Drive or Cornwallis Crescent.
