Rock Your Mocs (November 15-18, 2022)

header

Rock Your Mocs was started by Jessica "Jaylyn" Atsy of Laguna, NM in 2011, and has since been organized by event producer Melissa Sanchez since 2013, as a worldwide movement every November 15th.

École secondaire Neelin High School and Vincent Massey High School are holding a Rock Your Mocs event from November 15 – 18, 2022, and are challenging each school in the Division to hold their own Rock Your Mocs Week.

Why a week? The original day will always be November 15 worldwide. The two schools decided to hold this event throughout the week to provide more opportunities for the schools to engage staff and students.  It is an opportunity to be united and celebrate Indigenous individuality by wearing moccasins, while also honoring our ancestors and Indigenous peoples worldwide during Rock Your Mocs week.

Where: Wherever you may be! Wherever your day takes you! Whether it be at home, at school, or in the office.

How to Join in: Anyone can join and participate during this week’s event. Wear your moccasins, or something turquoise, the colors of the medicine wheel, or a ribbon skirt/shirt. Tell your own story.

Social Media: Always use the hashtag #RockYourMocs when you post on social media.

Do we have to wear our Mocs the whole week? No, choose a day or days or the whole week.
