PISA 2022
Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022
New date: Tuesday, April 26th, 2022
Canada is one of more than 80 countries participating in PISA, an important international assessment of the competencies of 15-year-olds in the domains of mathematics, science, and reading. The assessment takes place every three years, and although each assessment includes questions from all three domains, the major assessment domain focus shifts each cycle. In PISA 2022, the major domain will be mathematics, and science and reading will be the minor domains. Creative thinking and financial literacy will also be included as additional domains.
PISA provides valuable international indicators that describe the standards being achieved by students in various countries. Such international indicators can provide direction, insights, and tools to improve the effectiveness of education for all involved. More information on PISA is available at https://www.cmec.ca/251/Overview.html.
In spring 2022, approximately 30,000 students from 900 schools across Canada will be taking part in the PISA 2022 main study. Vincent Massey has been selected to participate. Up to a maximum of 53 students from our school will be chosen randomly to take part in the assessment. A permission form will be sent home to parents if your child is asked to participate. Only students whose parents agree to the testing will write the test on the morning of April 26th.
The assessment consists of two testing periods of 60 minutes each, followed by a 60‑minute period for the student questionnaires. To ensure confidentiality, no PISA results will be reported for individual students, teachers, schools, or school divisions. We highly value your support and cooperation and hope that you will give your permission for this assessment if it is requested.
