- J.R. Reid Parent Council offers supervision over lunch hour for students in grades 1-6  (11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.) Contact jrreidlunchprogram@gmail.com

- The YMCA offers a Before and After School Program (7:30 a.m. - 8:50 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.) Contact Angela Forsythe ymca.ba@wcgwave.ca

Students are asked to arrive when the first bell rings at 8:50 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.  There is no supervision, other than what is provided for Lunch Program students.

Attendance is taken twice daily, automated calls start for unexcused students at 9:10 & 1:00.  Please be aware that on days when there are a high volume of absences, despite our best efforts, all students cannot be entered in time before the automated calls start.

Primary Access
J. R. Reid School follows Primary Access procedures.  Primary Access means that all doors of the school, with the exception of the front door on 26th Street, remain locked during the school day.  The two side doors are unlocked approximately 5 minutes before the entry bells.  Students will enter and exit through their scheduled doors before school, at recess and at dismissal times.  The doors are always available to exit by simply pushing on them.

The front door of the school on 26th street remains open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. All parents, guardians and visitors are asked to report to the office before proceeding to the classroom.  If we have a sporting event in the gym after school we will lock the front door.  Visitors & participants coming to the school for the sporting events are asked to use the gym doors.
Parents coming to pick up their children at the YMCA's Before & After School Program are to use the gym doors. Ring the doorbell if the door is locked, a supervisor from the program will come let you in.
