TAKE OUR KIDS TO WORK DAY
TOKTW is set to happen Nov. 6th this year. This is a Canada wide event for all grade 9 students. This year we have CFB Shilo, Assiniboine College, Career Trek, Co-op, and Westman Immigrant Services hosting students. The purpose of the program is to give students the opportunity to explore the world of work in a supportive and positive manner with the help of a team consisting of parents, guardians, teachers and support staff. During this event, a great deal of the focus will be on the understanding of safety issues in the workplace.
SAFE WORKERS OF TOMORROW
All Grade 9 students had a great opportunity to participate in the SWOT presentations on October 23rd. Topics covered included worker rights and employer responsibilities, hazard recognition and control, health and safety legislation and WHMIS, and injury reporting and the role of the Workers Compensation Board. Grade 10's will also participate in the SWOT presentations end of November.
STUDENT COUNCIL EVENTS
From November 25-29, get ready to unleash your generosity at the Tri-High Food Drive!

ATTENDANCE
At Vincent Massey, we want all students to attend and participate in their classes as often as possible. We care about each student’s goals and progress, and each student is a valuable member of our school. We understand that, occasionally students will be absent from school. We also know that students who attend school regularly are more engaged in learning, have greater opportunity to access school and community resources, and have a greater sense of belonging. To notify the school about an absence for a student, please call or email the Massey main office (204-729-3170; vinccentmassey@bsd.ca). If you have concerns or worries about attendance; please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or to Student Services (204-729-3960).

METIS DOT ART CREATIONS
Miss Selmer’s grade 11 Canadian History class carefully created mini Metis Dot Art in October. They learned that usually Metis dot art/beading is symmetrical. But...there is often a “spirit bead” or something that is different in the art piece. This “spirit bead” is a reminder that we are all human and we all make mistakes.
