Human Rights Day (December 10, 2023)

header

Human Rights Day is observed on December 10th of each year, the day on which the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

“The Declaration states that each person is entitled to fundamental rights, including the right to equality, and the right to life, liberty and security of the person. It also recognizes the right to freedom of religion and speech and the right to participate in the cultural life of the community.”

This document is a milestone in the history of human rights as it outlines the fundamental rights and freedoms that every person is entitled to, regardless of race, gender, religion or any other status.

On December 10th, we honor the courageous activists, advocates, and leaders who have fought for human rights throughout history, and we commit ourselves to carrying on their legacy.
