The week of October 26-30, 2026, has been proclaimed as "Media Literacy Week" and October 28, 2026, as “Digital Citizen Day” by the Honourable Tracy Schmidt, Minister of Education & Early Childhood Learning.

Digital and media literacy are vital for all Manitobans to engage responsibly and safely in online environments.

Raising awareness about digital and media literacy in schools is crucial to ensuring all students have the skills needed to use, understand, engage, access, and verify online information.

Educators, parents and community members can help foster safe and respectful online interactions that promote positive physical and mental health.
