Social Studies

The Social Studies Department provides our students with engaging and stimulating learning experiences as they work towards assisting our students in meeting the learning outcomes as outlined within Manitoba Education's approved curriculums.

Graduation from the Province of Manitoba requires that all students have a completed Social Studies credit at the Grade 9, 10, and 11 levels (Grade 11 for Academic Diploma).  The respective courses at each grade level are as follows:

  • Grade 9 - Canada in the Contemporary World 10F
  • Grade 10 - Geographic Issues of the 21st Century 20F
  • Grade 11 - History of Canada 30S

Several additional Social Studies options are available for students at the Grades 10, 11, and 12 levels.

Students completing their compulsory Social Studies credits are encouraged to complete them within a regular classroom program, but alternative credit delivery settings are available to students.  Registration into any one of our alternative credit delivery models is planned in consultation with our Student Services team.

More detailed descriptions of the Social Studies credits are available by reviewing our Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School's Course Guide, visiting our Student Services Department, or contacting any member of the Social Studies Department.
