Attention O'Kelly Scientists

The École O’Kelly School 2024 Science Fair/Expo-Science took place on Monday, February 26, 2024. O’Kelly’s scientists have been working hard researching, experimenting, collecting data, and building prototypes in preparation for the big day. Students spent part of their morning sharing their projects with judges and then spent part of their afternoon sharing their projects with both the school and Shilo communities.

Thank you to the volunteer judges who joined us to help celebrate the hard work of our Panther scientists and to the family members who have helped create these projects at home over the last two months. Thank you as well to Cursed Coffee for ensuring our judges were caffeinated for their morning spent with us.

This year’s fair had 16 exciting projects!  All the projects were well done and were well presented to the judges. Each student should be proud of their accomplishments!

The final results for the morning of judging are:

Gold: Amelia Perry (Gr 2), Sawyer Laur (Gr 3), Kaleb Picklyk (Gr 5), Olivia Paquet (Gr 7)

Silver: Jaxson MacQuarrie (Gr 2), Jace Shelvey (Gr 4), Alice Prince-Pike (Gr 6), Alexa Kopp & Acelyn Moggach-Catchway (Gr 6), Hudson Laur (Gr 8)

Bronze: William Puumala (Gr 1), Nolan Hardy (Gr 3), Flynn Credo (Gr 6)

All Gold and Silver medal winners have received an invitation to represent École O’Kelly School at the Western Manitoba Science Fair at the Healthy Living Centre on Tuesday, April 9.  Go Panthers!
