Terry Fox Day, recognized on August 5, 2024, is a day dedicated to honoring the extraordinary legacy of Terry Fox, a Canadian hero whose determination and courage continue to inspire millions around the world.
Terry Fox, who was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer) at the age of 18, embarked on a cross-country run known as the Marathon of Hope in 1980 to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Despite losing his right leg to the disease, Terry ran an average of 26 miles a day for 143 days, covering over 3,000 miles before his journey was cut short by the return of his cancer. His efforts have since resulted in the Terry Fox Foundation raising over $800 million for cancer research.
Please note that all BSD Facilities will be closed on Monday, August 5, 2024.
