BSD Teacher Receives National Excellence in Teaching Award

Brandon School Division is pleased to share that Christopher Sarkonak of Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School has received the 2026 Robert E. Yager Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award from the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA). 

Mr. Sarkonak, who teaches physics and science, was selected as the District XVIII (Canada) winner for his innovative and student-centred approach to science education. The award honours educators who demonstrate excellence and innovation in science teaching while advancing Robert Yager’s vision of accessible, high-quality science education for all students.
