Black History Month (February 2026)
February 2026 has been proclaimed "Black History Month" by the Honourable Tracy Schmidt, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Learning and the Honourable Nellie Kennedy, Minister of Sport, Culture, Heritage and Tourism.
This proclamation highlights the important role of school communities in enabling all children and youth to reach their full potential and live Mino-Pimatisiwin (The Good Life), in which they have hope, belonging, meaning purpose.
Black History Month gives Manitobans an opportunity to remember, celebrate and educate future generations about the contributions of Black people and people of African descent to Manitoba’s economic, social, political and cultural life.
