Update: Phased-In Approach for Return to School for January 2022

Update

Updated:  Wednesday, January 5, 2022

With regards to the provincial government’s announcement on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 “Province to Implement Phased-In Approach for Return to School in January”, Brandon School Division Senior Administration will be connecting with school administration teams as they return from winter break over the next few days, to finalize planning for the remote learning period (commencing Monday, January 10, 2022) and an anticipated shift to Restricted: Orange on Manitoba’s Pandemic Response System.

We hope to communicate our ongoing plans with parents/guardians, students, and staff by the end of the week.

We have been informed by Manitoba Education that Public Health and Education officials have recommended an extension to the school winter break by two days for students.  Students will resume classes on Monday, January 10, 2022.  School staff will return on Thursday, January 6, 2022 for professional learning and to prepare for the continuation of learning in January.

This extension will give Public Health officials more time to assess the effects of the omicron variant in Manitoba, and to provide direction on the return to class in January.  This will also allow further time for distribution of rapid antigen tests to families with students in Kindergarten to Grade 6.
