YR Tree Planting

Thursday, September 20th, students from J.R. Reid, Earl Oxford and King George schools came together with the City of Brandon arborists and dignitaries from across Canada to plant 98 trees in Kin Park. This event was made possible by Forestry Canada and a grant supplied by CN Rail.

Students learned more about the habitat requirements for trees in our city, about the 20 varieties of trees planted by the City of Brandon and the types of diseases our cities trees are facing.  Not only did the students succeed in planting all 98 trees they did it in record time and with broad smiles.

Thank you to Angela McGuire-Holder (BSD YR coordinator) and Lindsay Hargreaves (City of Brandon Environmental Coordinator) for this incredible opportunity.
