J. R. Reid School follows Primary Access procedures. Primary Access means that all doors of the school, with the exception of the front door on 26th Street, remain locked during the school day. The two side doors are unlocked approximately 5 minutes before the entry bells. Students will enter and exit through their scheduled doors before school, at recess and at dismissal times. Staff will be assigned to open these doors to allow students to enter. The doors are always available to exit by simply pushing on them.
The front door of the school on 26th street remains open from 7:15 a.m. to 5:40 p.m. each day. All parents, guardians and visitors are asked to report to the office before proceeding to the classroom. If we have a sporting event in the gym after school we will lock the front door.
Parents coming to pick up their children at the YMCA's Before & After School Program are to ring the doorbell. A supervisor from the program will come let you in.
Visitors & participants coming to the school for the sporting events are asked to use the gym doors.
