The Youth Revolution students in each school were quite busy during Mental Health Week (January 27 – 31) and on Bell Let's Talk Day (January 29). YR team's made special presentations and had students participate in different activities on feelings, positive affirmations, self-care and the importance of mental health.
The YR team at King George provided the staff with a healthy snack and a small to thank them for making their school such a wonderful place. While Riverview's YR students created a bulletin board in the entry to the school and illustrated tips and tricks to help you when you are feeling different emotions. The whole school also worked together to lift the spirits of others in need by creating Valentines for Veterans. These Valentines are being sent to Veterans all over Canada! École O'Kelly School's Youth Revolution group did a lesson on non-verbal communication with the grade 3-4 classes, read stories and did activities about feelings for the K-2 classrooms. Earl Oxfords YR team read messages about mental health and staying healthy as well as what to do when you feel anxious over the announcements. They also had students write messages about what makes them smile or how they deal with stress and anxiety. The activities the Youth Revolution students showed students the importance of mental health and to keep the conversation going on the topic.
