On Wednesday, September 30, Riverview School held a special ceremony to celebrate the installation of a tipi in their
outdoor classroom. The tipi which is part of the Tipi Tour Legacy Project is in
the environment where Storytelling will come to life! The tipi encased in a
circle offers three concepts as a foundation to: Learn, Grow, and Reconcile.
For years to come the school staff, students, and guests will use the outdoor
classroom and tipi to commemorate and reconcile. By embedding Indigenous
cultures, identity, and language, through Oral Traditions and storytelling, everyone
will learn more about the history of Indigenous Nations. Riverview School will
promote these stories and concepts in the future to recapture the Indigenous
Peoples’ place in the land.
