High School Featured Athlete - February 2020

February 4, 2020

Please join us in recognizing the following students:

Sienna Luckins
Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School

Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School is pleased to name Grade 11 student, Sienna Luckins, as their High School Featured Athlete.

Sienna is currently having a big impact on her 12 – 4 varsity girls basketball team at Crocus Plains.  In the month of January, Sienna is leading the team with 3.6 deflections, 4 steals, and is a second leading guard in rebounding with 4.6 rebounds per game.

Sienna has an academic average of 81%, and her community and school involvement involves playing on the Crocus Rugby team as well as playing Team Manitoba Rugby.

Coach’s Quote: Coach's Quote:  "Sienna is a fantastic teammate who cares so much about the team and her teammates. She shines on the defensive end because she competes every possession. Her on-ball defense gives the opposing teams fits which has helped our team create turnovers and high percentage scoring opportunities. On the other end, she's been having an impact as well by scoring lay-ups in transition and knocking down timely three's. With the impact that she has made and the growth she has made throughout the season, I'm really excited to see what she can do as she continues to develop."

Piper is expected to be a leader for the Varsity Basketball team this year as one of our 3 returning players off of the provincial championship team from last year. She also has quite the list of awards as well: 2019 Crocus Plains Tournament All Star; 2018 Varsity Basketball Provincial Champion; 2016/2017 JV Volleyball Provincial Finalist and 2018/2019 Varsity Volleyball Provincial Champion.

While Piper is busy on the court with basketball and volleyball, she has also been able to maintain an academic average of 80%.

Coach’s Quote: “Piper is an extremely hard worker, dedicates herself to constantly improving her skills in practice and is the engine that moves our offence during games. She has earned the respect and trust of her teammates and coaches alike, and clearly the basketball community in general as she was named a tournament all-star at the Crocus Plains preseason tournament earlier this month.  We expect a big season from Piper this year.”
